Luizão could depart West Ham in January after two years at the club with a return to Brazil on the cards.

The 22-year-old joined the Hammers in January 2023 as a 20-year-old having impressed in limited minutes for his boyhood club São Paulo.

In his two years at the club so far, he has become a crucial player for the U21s, but he hasn’t really got close to making his first-team debut. He scored 4 goals in 48 matches in total for the youth team,

Luizão is now reportedly keen on a new challenge and he could be available for loan this January. Recent reports have linked the likes of Gremio, Bahia, and Internacional with a move for the centre-back.

The defenders agent has been talking up his client for a move to Internacional. He said: “We’ve had enquiries from various clubs in Brazil, including Inter [Internacional]. But we don’t have anything official from any club, just enquiries about interest and salary. Today West Ham are loaning him out with an option to buy. But who wouldn’t want to play for Inter? Today we’re more for the clubs than for ourselves.

“Inter actually approached us in the last window and didn’t make a move, there was another preference. But we’re open, if Inter make it official we won’t waste any time.”

Not many West Ham fans know too much about Luizão despite being an important part of the U21s since arriving in East London. He hasn’t really ever been mentioned with the other names like Kaelan Casey and Ezra Myers who have been hyped up a lot more. At 22, it’s time for him to start playing first-team football, and going back to Brazil could be ideal.

It’s clear Luizão has no place in West Ham or Julen Lopetegui’s plans. The player had to be registered in the Premier League squad this season due to his age and he was left out. Suggesting a move was possible in the summer, and will all but happen next month.

The Hammers would be willing for him to leave on a straight loan, or a loan with an option to buy. However, any club would need to cover all of his £20,000 a week wages which could be a big ask for any Brazilian club.
