Fan favourite ex-West Ham player and coach has earned himself a job as an EFL manager.

One reason David Moyes was so successful at West Ham was his strong group of leaders. Obviously, the likes of Mark Noble, Declan Rice, and Aaron Cresswell were all brilliant at it as players, he also had multiple backroom staff who understood the club and had a great presence.

Arguably the most notable of these is West Ham cult hero Kevin Nolan. The former midfielder was a crucial part of Moyes’ coaching team but has been out of work since Julen Lopetegui came in.

Fortunately, after 6 years away from managing, Nolan has taken over as Northampton’s head coach.

The Cobblers sit just 2 points above the relegation zone in 20th, with every team below them having a game in hand on them.

It’s a big step for Nolan, but one that will be made easier from the experience he gained at West Ham. Hopefully he can go on to succeed there, because a large amount of the Irons’ fanbase were disappointed to see him go with Moyes. He deserves this opportunity, and Northampton fans can expect passion if nothing else from their new gaffer.
