West Ham defender issues apology to fans after shambolic Liverpool performance.
Despite the signing of Jean-Clair Todibo, Mavropanos has managed to start the majority of games under Julen Lopetegui. This hasn’t pleased fans, as the Greek seems to make a lot of big mistakes.
After the 5-0 thrashing at home to Liverpool, the West Ham defender has apologised to the fans. “It was a really disappointing performance from us,” Dinos said. “It’s not the display we wished for, and we want to say sorry to our fans.”
“To play against these teams you must be at a high level and play towards your best, but today we didn’t do that. There were silly mistakes throughout, and it wasn’t good enough.”
“We need to move on quickly and focus on the next game now, and make sure we come back stronger.”
The Irons face another tough test against Manchester City, one that the defender described as a “big” match. “Our preparation for the next game starts now, and we’ll work as hard as possible to be ready for the next game and to be back at the level we need to be, and should be.”
“We need to be ready because the next game is going to be big for us. I hope that we will be able to come back stronger.”
To me, it’s baffling how the Greece international is still in the starting XI. Although Todibo hasn’t been at the level expected, nor has he got the best relationship with the manager, Mavropanos makes constant mistakes which cost us points. The majority of the goals were down to his own fault against the Reds, something that should see him dropped immediately.
