West Ham’s transfer strategy completely flipped on its head due to Jarrod Bowen’s injury.
The last thing West Ham and Julen Lopetegui needed was their captain Jarrod Bowen to suffer from any type of injury. Unfortunately, his fractured foot will keep him sidelined for a significant amount of time.
As a result, it’s been reported that the club have done a complete 180° on their decision to allow Mohammed Kudus to leave for the right price.
Not only does this mean that they may have to shift more attention on signing a winger to play back up, but it also means they will have much less money to spend than if they had sold Kudus. This means that signing a striker and midfielder like they initially wanted will be infinitely more challenging.
While the focus was loans anyway, that would have changed if the Ghanaian left for the desired £100 million. Players like Evan Ferguson will presumably be the focus now, but I can’t help but feel like a big enough offer for the star boy will be too tempting for the board.
