West Ham are looking to strengthen the squad this January with key positions highlighted for the recruitment team.
Despite spending a considerable amount on the playing staff in the previous summer transfer window, it’s clear the club need to further invest, following what has been a disappointing first half of the campaign, with Julen Lopetegui’s position under threat.
The Head Coach’s situation isn’t ideal, which could further complicate matters as the club look to do business this new year, with club insider ExWHUEmployee advising on the current state of play.
“Our target position appears to be in central midfield, a box to box midfielder being the preferred choice and a new centre forward too,” stated Ex on The West Ham Way Patreon.
“One club who have a couple of players we could explore loans for are Chelsea. Two players that could be targets for loans are: Carney Chukwuemeka and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall both of which could provide options in midfield and are known for their energy. Of course we could only sign one of them on loan as you are not allowed two loans from the same domestic club.
“The club have made some initial enquiries about Evan Ferguson of Brighton on loan. It seems however that Brighton are not prepared to commit to a loan decision until the end of the window. They have concerns over Danny Welbeck’a injury status and so wish to keep the Irish international’s signature until the end of the window to assess Welbeck’s fitness before making a decision.”
