West Ham are closing in on the appointment of Graham Potter as Head Coach, it’s been reported by ExWHUEmployee.
After days of much media speculation and shifts in events unfolding in east London, it now appears the Lopetegui & Potter saga is coming to an end, with the club expected to part ways with the former Spain boss Lopetegui today, as an agreement with Graham Potter is likely to be concluded.
Reporting on The West Ham Way Patreon, our club insider ExWHUEmployee provided an update as to where things stand currently.
“It is thought that today could and it’s important to empathise could (as anything seems to be possible at West Ham at the moment) be a defining moment in West Ham’s history with the dismissal of the manager Lopetegui widely expected to happen today,” stated Ex.
“The scheduled press conference today for the Aston Villa match has been postponed, which indicates that the sacking of Lopetegui is imminent. Although at this point he hasn’t been told and is still scheduled to take training.
“Graham Potter has been in talks with West Ham on and off for a month or so now. He had originally agreed a sixth month contract with the club but it appears potential interest from other clubs has enabled him to negotiate for a longer term deal. This deal is said to include performance measures though that if they are not met can enable the club to terminate the deal. We will try to find out what these measures are as the day develops.
“It is felt that when Potter finally gives the all clear and signed this dismissal will be actioned. At this stage it is also unknown whether he will be in the dug out for the match against Aston Villa. So far Lopetegui has taken training all week so the club may decide it is better for an academy member of staff to take the task.
“A front runner would be Kevin Keen who played with Potter at Stoke or Mark Robson. As always though we will update you throughout the day when we get updates.”
