Julen Lopetegui has won the respect of West Ham fans via his classy conduct.

After days of frustration and drama, Julen Lopetegui is no longer West Ham United’s head coach. He’s been hanging onto his job by the skin of his teeth, but he couldn’t do so any longer.

Results have been poor, but performances have been abysmal. His poor relationship with players combined with no real signs of improvement meant the board had no choice to sack him.

The way they handled this was absolutely disgusting though, informing the media of their decision well before Lopetegui. However, the Spaniard’s conduct has been nothing short of remarkable.

He’s continued to take training each day despite knowing he was going to lose his job (again not via the board though). On top of this, it’s claimed that he was willing to take part in the press conference that was originally scheduled ahead of the Aston Villa game even though he knows what each and every question would be about.

You simply have to give the man full respect, if not as a coach then for being a hard working, honest man. I personally would love to see him go and prove himself at another club now, he deserves it after all he’s been through.
