West Ham fell to a loss at Villa Park however the performance was very encouraging.
Graham Potter has taken the reigns in east London following a disastrous spell from Julen Lopetegui, who was rightly sacked this week, and the display showed a team with the weight off the shoulders.
Potters side were on top for the vast majority of the game, however poor officiating and injuries to both Niclas Fullkrug and Crysencio Summerville appeared to be the key reasons for the 2nd half collapse.
West Ham are a team in transition however the signs are something fans can be very encouraged and somewhat excited by, with all eyes now on Tuesday night when we face Fulham in the Premier League.
Following the defeat last night, Podcast duo Dave Walker and ExWHUEmployee gave their thoughts on the events, both stating they were very happy with how the team performed overall.
“Despite a disappointing result I thought it was a good performance with some positives to take away and something to build on,” stated Walker.
“I thought we played well especially the first half,” added Ex. “The injuries really affected us because Ings wasn’t really in the game and Summerville was playing well at both ends of the pitch.
“Shout out to Ollie Scarles who once again showed why he needs to be a first team regular. I am already hearing good things about Potter’s man management and I think we should take positives from the performance as a sign of things to come.”
