Signing a 19-year-old wonderkid this January may prove harder than West Ham would have hoped.
Prior to any injuries, West Ham were already looking like they needed another striker in January. However, Michail Antonio’s car crash elevated this desire. Unfortunately, injuries to both Bowen and Fullkrug have made signing a forward a non-negotiable this month.
With Graham Potter replacing Julen Lopetegui, the type of manager they will be looking at could have potentially changed.
Interestingly, reports have claimed that the Hammers could make a move for 19-year-old Conrad Harder.
The youngster has got 5 goal involvements in the league to his name this season for Sporting Lisbon, which is remarkable for such a young man.
Although he’s an unbelievable talent, West Ham’s budget in January will be limited and it’s nearly impossible to imagine a world where they spend the £42 million that Lisbon are reportedly demanding for him.
Obviously, that price is a huge risk for someone so inexperienced, but it’s the sort of risk you have to take in football. If our Irons don’t sign him, there’s every chance that one of the big clubs in Europe could in the Summer.
