James Tomkins has given his backing for Graham Potter to be a success at West Ham.

The former Hammer, who came through the clubs famed Academy of Football, was speaking exclusively to The West Ham Way via our club insider ExWHUEmployee.

Tomkins was a huge fan favourite in east London, having amassed over 200 appearances in the claret & blue, before heading across London in 2018 to join Crystal Palace – where he again became a favourite and key player for the club.

Speaking to our insider Ex, Tomkins gave his thoughts on the clubs appointment of Potter, stating that he feels he’s the right fit for the club as we look to kick on after a very poor spell under Julen Lopetegui.

“I think it is a positive appointment and I think the job he done at Brighton was impressive,” said the former Hammer. “Then going to Chelsea we realised how hard that was so hard to judge off the back of that.

“So overall I feel the club and Graham Potter are right for each other and with some backing in this window, I believe the results will improve and get the club heading the right way up the table.”

Tomkins is going to be the very special guest at our Pre-Match Event this Saturday, with only a handful of tickets now remaining here. Tomkins spoke of his excitement to be back amongst it with the Hammers fans at the Colour Factory right by the London Stadium.

“I’m forward to seeing and meeting the fans who have been brilliant to me when I was a player – and even when I left being one of their own!”
