West Ham are trying to raise funds with an enquiry made into a summer signing, its been reported by ExWHUEmployee.
Following an update earlier today on the clubs progress in bringing in a new striker this transfer window, which you can read here; Ex has provided further information on the state of play in regards to other areas of recruitment this January.
Firstly, our insider wanted to clarify the current situation regarding Jhon Duran, with the club again linked with a move for the Aston Villa forward.
“People keep asking me to comment on the Duran situation,” said Ex. “To clarify, I did do this on the Phone In Show. The club are saying they did make a bid however this bid was instantly shut down as being way below what Villa were asking for.”
Ex also reported that the club are eager to offload Maxwell Cornet, who has to-date suffered a miserable loan spell at Southampton, as the former Burnley player struggles to get his career back on track.
“We are trying to raise funds by finding another club for Maxwell Cornet,” stated the insider. “The player has no future at West Ham, but it appears also not at Southampton too where he is on loan.
“So we wish to find a club who will buy him from us if the loan is terminated. He has only played for Southampton this year so is legible to play for another team.”
In an interesting development, there have been enquiries made for Luis Guilherme, with the clubs current stance on the player unclear.
“There is also some talk that clubs in Saudi Arabia and UAE are interested in signing Guilherme,” said Ex. “No offers are in yet and it West Ham’s stance on this potential move is unclear – although it is thought we would want to keep the player for now.”
Finally Ex provided an update on other potential moves this window, with the loan market being explored as well as potentially bringing in a highly-rated and sought-after striker from Celtic.
“We have listed the names before but the two Chelsea lads Chukwuemeka and Dewsbury Hall are loans that Potter is said to be very keen to explore,” added Ex. “We are also still very much interested in Dutch midfielder Banzuzi who we hope will join us over other clubs.
“At under 21 level we have Josh Landers on trial from Hibs and are also tracking Daniel Cummings of Celtic. They are two of a number of young forwards being looked at for the 21s.”
Further updates on the clubs activities are to follow in due course.
