West Ham eye non-league starlet in bold move.
In the modern game it’s not often that players go straight from non league to the Premier League. When they do, it’s more than likely that they’ve been purchased from the National League.
However, a player from the 7th tier of English football jumping all the way to the top is practically unheard of. Surprisingly though, with both West Ham and Southampton reportedly interested, it could just happen for Reuben Livesey-Austin,
The 20-year-old right-back has enjoyed a sensational spell at Havant and Waterlooville and it’s been enough to capture the eye of multiple big clubs.
It goes without saying that signing the youngster is an incredibly risky move. However, with how little he’d cost there would be no pressure on him to make his way into the first-team straight away – he’d be able to develop further in the academy before making the step up.
The academy is incredibly talented when it comes to identifying talents, and there’s little harm in taking a chance on him. If it does happen, we just need to be patient with him.
