West Ham target another uninspiring Bundesliga striker to replace Niclas Fullkrug.
Under the current ownership, West Ham’s record when it comes to signing strikers has always been abysmal, but it somehow managed to get worse after moving to the London Stadium. Bar Arnautovic, very few if any strikers have got close to providing the goals the Hammers have been so desperate for. Although Antonio did an unbelievable job of stepping up in a time of desperation, they’ve been needing a replacement for a while – his recent car crash only makes this more of a necessity.
Unfortunately, their recent attempts in Haller, Scamacca, and Danny Ings have all been huge failures, and with Niclas Fullkrug sustaining another long-term injury, it looks pretty likely that he will join them on that list.
With Ings being the only fit, recognised striker at the club (and even then he’s not starting) our Irons are eager to bring in a forward this month.
One name that seems to have been added to the list of potential targets is Andre Silva. The once highly rated prospect hasn’t hit the heights that were expected of him since joining RB Leipzig, scoring just eight league goals in his last three seasons.
With that sort of record, it’s no wonder reports are claiming Potter isn’t excited about the prospect of the Portuguese striker, nor is he said to be about any of the targets. If he’s available on loan, then maybe it’s worth taking the risk, but even then I wouldn’t be very pleased with the deal.
