A major update to Lucas Paqueta’s hearing have been unveiled.
A year-and-a-half on from the initial accusations and we are still no closer to knowing the truth about Lucas Paqueta’s alleged involvement in a betting scandal.
The allegations claim that he purposefully got booked on three separate occasions in the Premier League. The only official development there’s been is that in May they went ahead and charged him.
Originally, the case was meant to be over last Summer, but this was extended to January and then March. However, this had now been postponed once again until the end of the season.
Paqueta has categorically denied the accusations against him.
The extension could mean one of two things. It could either be that the evidence against him is rather weak, or that the case is much more complex than first thought.
Although having him until the end of the season is reassuring, it’s also frustrating that this is still dragging on – especially considering the impact it’s had on his play.
