West Ham are continuing talks over potential incoming players this January transfer window, with ExWHUEmployee providing an update.

Following what was a shock move from the club to table a £57m bid for Jhon Duran yesterday, talks are continuing over other targets as the club work to strengthen the squad for Graham Potter this second half of the season.

“The club does have some initial interest in Emanuel Emegha,” stated Ex. “The 6’5 Dutch under 21s international has had a great season for Strasbourg in France and has 7 goals in 13 league appearances. The club started initial enquiries about 4 weeks ago but it was considered a difficult transfer to complete.”

Circumstances though have since changed with West Ham now appointing Kyle Macauley from Chelsea, as its felt the analyst could well have a connection to the player with the the west London club owner Todd Boely also having shares in BlueCo – owners of Strasbourg.

Another player the club are understood to be showing an interest in is Monaco forward Breel Emobolo.

“Embolo is a highly rated Swiss international forward who plays for Monaco in France,” said Ex. “West Ham have been linked with the forward a number of times in the past.

“His playing style has been likened to Michail Antonio’s and he is seen as a good longer term successor to him. Injuries have been a bit of a concern during his career and these would need further exploration via the medical should we chose to go ahead with it.”

Furthermore, the club are still holding a firm interest in Taiwo Awoniyi, Evan Ferguson and Andre Silva, with talks over potential moves to continue.

Interest remains in Chelsea duo Dewsbury-Hall and Carney Chukwuemeka, while its hoped that the hiring of Macauley will aid any formal moves for the players, should the club decide to press ahead.

“Macauley’s appointment has been on the cards since Potter’s appointment and this does explain why there has been little movement so far,” stated Ex “With many of Stiedten’s suggestions not being given approval as Potter wanted the input from Macauley.

“Having already been linked with Dewsbury-Hall, although he started Chelsea’s game yesterday, and Chukwuemeka Carney, who wasn’t in the squad, these players may also further develop. It is thought however West Ham are still negotiating for Ezechiel Banzuzi of OH Leuven.”

Further updates on transfer activity is to follow in due course.
