Tim Steidten looks set to be pushed further towards a West Ham exit as manager Graham Potter looks to bring in some of his own staff, according to The Times.

West Ham’s technical director Tim Steidten’s role at West Ham has bene under pressure for months now due to the failures of Julen Lopetegui and some of his signings. The pressure increased with the hiring of Graham Potter who has now made a move to bring Kyle Macauley to the club. The Hemmers have agreed compensation with Chelsea for the 38-year-old that Potter worked with at Ostersunds, Swansea, Brighton and Chelsea.

Steidten has spent over £100m in both summer transfer windows since arriving at the club and have failed to show any improvement with more misses than hits, with the biggest miss being hiring Julen Lopetegui as manager. After a big transfer window, West Ham find themselves 14th this season having already lost 10 games, just four fewer than their total losses last season.

Of the nine players brought into the squad this summer, the only true success so far would be Aaron Wan-Bissaka. Kilman and Summerville have impressed at times, but have failed to make a real impact, similar to Jean-Clair Todibo, Fullkrug’s injuries have made him a complete waste of money, Luis Guilherme could already be on his way out and Guido Rodriguez has really failed to impress at all.

Macauley is expected to be brought in as a major part of the transfers at West Ham United, and with no previous relationship and what seems like a pretty different strategy and pool of players to what Tim Steidten targets, it looks difficult to see how it would work. With just over a week left of the window, they may be tasked to work together so it will be interesting to see who the Hammers bring in, if anyone.

Despite Potter being sacked from Chelsea almost two years ago now, Macauley stayed at Stamford Bridge, but with Potter back in management, the two good friends are moving closer a new partnership in East London. That partnership could be made a trio, which would all but confirm Tim Steidten’s exit.

Dan Ashworth was the sporting director at Brighton when both Potter and Macauley were there, and some of the player they brought into the club during that time and beyond are moves Hammers fans could only dream of – Moises Caicedo, Alexis Mac Allister, Evan Ferguson and Kaoru Mitoma were all brought to the club by Ashworth.
