Maxwel Cornet has joined Genoa on loan in hopes of generating interest in a permanent move.
Despite promising signs at the start of his time in East London, Maxwel Cornet’s move has been an absolute disaster. Although it’s no fault of his own, he’s been constantly injured and therefore he’s had little chance to prove himself.
In order to try to restart his career, he joined Southampton on loan in the Summer. Unfortunately, this didn’t work out as he only played in two Premier League games, and the Hammers have recalled him to now send him out on loan to Genoa.
The hope is that he will be able to perform in Italy, a slower league, in order to sell him at the end of the season. It’s believed the East London outfit are still paying a large portion of his wage, so it would be fruitless if it doesn’t result in a sale.
