Everton look set to beat West Ham to the signing of Chelsea midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka, as the Hammers focus on bringing in a striker this week.
West Ham United have been linked with a move for Chelsea’s 21-year-old midfielder since the start of the month, and that only increased when Graham Potter was hired as he played for him at Chelsea. However, it looks very unlikely that the Hammers will make a move.
This has given the opportunity for former Hammers manager David Moyes to take advantage of the situation, the toffees are now the clear favourites to sign the former Aston Villa midfielder. The Scot has gone public on the importance of bolstering his side this month as Everton look to stave off the threat of relegation.
Moyes is a huge fan of the Austria-born England youth International, in fact, he named him as one of the brightest young Premier League talents when he was at Aston Villa almost 30 montha ago, before his £20m switch to Chelsea.
The midfielder has only managed 32 appearances with just five starts in two and a half years failing to make a real impression under four managers: Frank Lampard, Graham Potter, Mauricio Pochettino and now Enzo Maresca.
The Hammers want a midfielder but it looks like Ezechiel Banzuzi will be that man as they remain in advanced talks with the young Dutchman. However, for the moment, the striker position seems to be the priority for Graham Potter and West Ham. At the moment Brian Brobbey looks the most likely to come in, with Andre Silva as a backup option.
