Jean-Clair Todibo wants to leave West Ham for Juventus this month, according to a report from Football Insider.
Todibo has had a mixed time of it since joining the Hammers on an initial loan from Nice in August. He had had some good performances, some bad performances and has struggled with injuries and fitness at times. The Frenchman is currently out with an injury that is expected to keep him out for at least a couple more weeks.
To add to his inconsistency, Todibo and Lopetegui really didn’t get on, with reports suggesting at one stage that Todibo refused to play while he was in charge after a bust up. Recent reports after the sacking of Lopetegui and the hiring of Graham Potter said Todibo was now very keen on remaining at the club and working under the Englishman.
However, Juventus have now renewed their interest in the French defender after chasing him all summer. Everyone knew that Todibo preferred a move to Juventus, however, the Old Lady couldn’t afford to sign him, so Todibo grew tired of waiting and decided to make the move to East London.
However, the Hammers’ deal with Nice was a loan with an obligation to buy when achievable conditions are met. Those conditions are yet to be reached so if the deal was to happen it would be very complicated. West Ham would either have to pay Nice now and sell him on to Juventus for a small profit, or if Nice agree, send him back to France so they can sell him to Juventus.
Both of these scenarios are very implausible, making a transfer in the last few days of the window pretty much impossible. Especially when the Hammers would have to sign at least one, if not two defenders to replace him.
Jean-Clair Todibo is very unlikely to force a move away from the club before the 3rd of February deadline, meaning he will more than likely remain at the club for the rest of the season. However, this will likely be a story again in the summer with Juventus desperate to sign the Frenchman and he is eager to move to Turin and play European football.
