Graham Potter has expressed his delight in how his West Ham team performed in the draw at Villa Park.

It was a point very much deserved, although many will feel all 3 points would have been a fairer reflection, with West Ham producing a dominant performance for the vast majority of the proceedings.

Following a full week on the training ground with his players, the display was one that showed Potters impact at the club is already evident and something for fans to be excited about.

“We’re really pleased with the performance,” Potter told the clubs Official Website. “We just got caught in a couple of actions early on and then we had to suffer a little bit, but from then on I thought we were really, really good.

“The reaction to their goal was great, we pushed and pushed second half, created some really good chances, played with personality, played with effort, so it was really good.

“We have to be a team, we have to be hard to beat, we have to be compact and if we can attack fast, we attack fast, but if not then we have to feel that we can keep the ball and I thought we did both of those things.”

The impact Potter has had on the team and the club is evident, while also showing what a week on the training pitch with the players can produce.

The Head Coach is now back focused with the player on our next task in-hand, which is a trip to Stamford Bridge, with Potter no doubt looking to get one over on his former club.

“We had a really busy first week, three games in eight days and this week was a good positive week for us and I think that’s the foundation for us to go forward,” added Potter.

“We have to prepare well, train well, which the boys have done, so we need to recover now and get ready for another tough game at Chelsea.”
