West Ham have hit a roadblock in their hunt for European striker as they struggle to agree terms with his club.
We’re just a matter of days away from the January transfer window closing yet West Ham seem no closer to signing a striker. While this was always going to be the case with a new manager and a newly appointed head of recruitment, it’s getting to the stage where fans are getting worried.
Unfortunately, a deal for one of their top striker targets is proving difficult.
Despite having just one goal in 17 games this season, Brian Brobbey is still one of Ajax’s most valuable talents, one they’re desperate to keep hold of. As a result, it’s been reported that they are not willing to let him leave on loan, where the Hammers will not entertain a permanent deal.
Although he’s only young, and had a good record last season, you only have to watch him once to see that he’s wasteful in front of goal. Some of the chances he missed each game make him someone that I would not take a risk on. We’ve tried signing foreign strikers before who have never played in England and it’s not worked out, why take a chance on someone as wasteful as Brobbey is?
