West Ham have been tipped to make a move for Jack Grealish this summer by former England and Liverpool striker Stan Collymore.

A lot has been made of Jack Grealish’s future, he has been in poor form and has had a lack of minutes in the last couple of seasons and a lot of people believe it’s time for him to move on from City to keep his England future alive.

“Jack might end up going somewhere like Saudi because I’m struggling to see a top four, five or six team that would take him. The traditional top four or five, wages and fee would be a problem,” Stan Collymore said to GOAL.

“If you are an aspiring club, Newcastle could go and buy anybody that’s young and hungry and fresh, likewise Villa.

“If you are one of the clubs like Bournemouth and Brighton, you probably couldn’t afford him. You could probably see him at a club like West Ham, bizarrely, because they have got the money and London as clout.”

Grealish is still undoubtedly one of the most talented players England has to offer, if he can find the form he had at Villa again it one be one help of a coup for West Ham and Graham Potter. But is he capable of that?

Grealish is now 29 years old and turns 30 in September. so if he wants to become a crucial player for a decent-level team again, he probably has to do it this summer. However, even though Collymore thinks the Hammers would be the most realistic option, I can’t see it happening under the new regime.

Graham Potter and Kyle Macauley are known for bringing in younger players and improving them, and this is exactly what West Ham needs now. We have the oldest squad in the league and a closing in on 30-year-old Jack Grealish would add to that.

West Ham need to sign players more like Brighton did and still do, for example, Kaoru Mitoma cost just over £2m and has now been subject to a reported £90m bid from Saudi Arabia. If we signed Grealish on what would be a four or five-year deal, he would have zero resale value, which in an era of PSR could be a risk long-term.
