West Ham captain says an underrated midfielder has a big future at the club.

Jarrod Bowen knows better than anyone what it’s like to make a big jump in football. However, his gradual climb from non-league is admittedly rather different to the story of Andy Irving.

Irving joined West Ham purely to form a partnership with Austria Klagenfurt; a partnership that has had absolutely zero business since. The signing came with no official announcement, and it wasn’t expected that he’d ever actually play for our Irons as he returned back to the Austrian side on loan.

However, some strong performances in training saw him become somewhat of a fan favourite, even if it was just for humour. Shockingly, he’s gone on to be a solid squad player, earning his first start under Graham Potter at Stamford Bridge.

Bowen admits that he’s been impressed with the Scotsman, and believes the future is bright for him. “Andy’s worked incredibly hard and been incredibly patient,” he stated. “I get on really well with Andy. I’ve had a lot of chats with him and always told him that I know his time will come because I’ve seen it in training. He looked comfortable. He looked at home with it and I know there will be many more (appearances) for Andy.”
