West Ham captain Jarrod Bowen scored his 50th goal in the Premier League this weekend as West Ham beat Arsenal 1-0 at the Emirates.
The club captain has added to his already legendary status at West Ham by hitting a half century of Premier League goals, only Michail Antonio on 68 goals is now ahead of the 28 year 0ld.
Bowen has recently overtook Hammers icons Paolo Di Canio and Mark Noble in Premier League goal rankings, with both players sitting on 47 PL goals for the club.
After the Arsenal match, Bowen told the official West Ham YouTube channel: “I never thought I was going to play in the Premier League, so to sit here and say that I’ve scored 50 goals is a real special moment,” Bowen reflected.
“I think if I missed that, I would have had nightmares about it. It was a little bit tense at the end, but I think they’re even more special when you come away with a result as well.
“I always say to Mick [Michail Antonio] that I’m chasing his record, and we have a few jokes. He probably won’t be happy that I’m getting a little bit closer, and now the next target is 100.”
It is very likely Bowen will overtake Antonio and become the Hammers top PL scorer in the next couple of years. However, we can’t rule out Antonio adding to his 68 goals just yet.
The Jamaican International is recovering from the broken leg he suffered a car crash ahead of schedule and could be back before the end of the season. It remains unclear if he will be here any longer than this season with his contract expiring in the summer, but what we all know is that no matter who is top of the charts, both players are West Ham legends.
