West Ham didn’t have to get out of second gear to beat a woefully poor Leicester City last night.
That is the view of The West Ham Way Podcast duo Dave Walker and ExWHUEmployee, who were both also full of praise for Graham Potter, who steered West Ham to back-to-back Premier League wins for the first time this season.
It was a win that signified an upturn in east London, with a feeling growing that a corner has been turned as we look to finish off the season in strong fashion.
“A really good, professional performance that was well disciplined and well structured,” said Walker after the game. “I think Potter got the right balance between playing five at the back but still controlling the game.
“Yes, Leicester were poor but credit to West Ham. We deserved the win and it was good to see back to wins for the first time this season which also included a second consecutive clean sheet.”
Ex shared his co-host’s view but also highlighted the performance of James Ward-Prowse, who has been in fine form since his return from his loan at Nottingham Forest.
“It is great to get two wins on the bounce and keep another clean sheet – something that we haven’t done for a long long time,” said Ex. “I thought a number of players put in a good shift, including James Ward-Prowse.
“He was my man of the match, as he really worked hard and was always available for the pass to make things happen.
“Leicester were terrible in fairness and offered us no opposition, but you can only beat what is in front of you and we did so I am a happy hammer today.”
