West Ham owners told to build squad around star man amidst interest from top clubs.

Unfortunately, West Ham are in the awkward middle ground of being able to attract great players but struggling to keep hold of them.

Although they’ve tied him down on a 7-year contract, Jarrod Bowen is still undoubtedly going to be a player many clubs look at in the coming transfer window.

Despite potentially getting a huge payday if he was to be sold, Joe Cole believes that the owners should be building a team around the Englishman. “There’s been links to your Liverpool’s and Arsenal’s and I’m sure others would be queueing up to get him [Bowen] after what he’s done,” Cole told TNT Sports.

“So you have got to capitalise on that West Ham [how well Bowen is performing]. We talk about this club going on to the next level.”

“Well there’s a group of young players underneath Jarrod between the bracket of [under] 15s/16s to Under 20.”

“You’ve got a manager who can nurture players. You’ve got a club with recent success,” he continued.

“Now is the time to get some players around him who can help him. Help the squad, build and go to the next level.  And I think it’s important that the club capitalise on that – the owners, the recruitment staff and the manager.”

Under no circumstances can Bowen be allowed to leave the club. He’s not only the side’s best player, but he’s also the face of West Ham United, a fan favourite, and the captain.

Contracts may not mean much in modern football, but you can’t help but get the feeling Bowen has every intention of honouring his.
