Competition for thriving West Ham outcast ramps up amidst internal debate about future.

On paper, Nayef Aguerd had absolutely everything to be a top class defender. He’s brilliant on the ball, possesses excellent passing, can put in some sensational tackles, and is far from slow. However, despite this, his time at West Ham was disastrous, with him costing the Hammers so many points from his massive errors.

As a result, the club shipped him on loan to Real Sociedad, where he’s been part of the one of the best defences in Europe.

Reports recently have been speculating heavily on his future. Both Barcelona and Real Madrid are said to have held long-term interest, with Sociedad obviously eager to make the deal permanent, and Manchester United have since entered the mix.

Surprisingly though, at the risk of losing out on big money, Graham Potter is apparently very keen to keep hold of the Moroccan international and plans to use him in his back 3 next season.

Given how he’s performed in the Premier League before, it seems like a huge risk to potentially lose out on a £30 – 40 million deal. He may have improved, but if he hasn’t it could be a huge loss for the Irons.
