West Ham Women’s manager Rehanne Skinner praised her players’ attitude after a late goal from Manuela Pavi secured the Hammers a point against Manchester City On Wednesday.

Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw came on as a substitute and put the visitors ahead in the 80th minute, but the Hammers refused to let conceding late cause their heads to drop. Substitute Manuela Pavi sparked jubilant scenes from Hammers players and supporters when she curled her effort low into the far corner. The forward’s 91st minute equaliser sealed a point for West Ham, as their positive form at home this season continues.

Speaking to the Club’s media team after the full time whistle, manager Rehanne Skinner was full of praise for her side and their performance: “I thought we played really well today and I think in the first half, we probably could have been in front at half time. We had three really good opportunities and I think the way that we applied ourselves again is just the most important piece.” said Skinner.

The Hammers boss went on to discuss how she felt her side were unlucky not to take something from the Arsenal game last time out, but that she was pleased with their overall performance.

Only two WSL sides have beaten the Hammers at the Chigwell Construction Stadium so far this season. Whilst the Hammers home form is impressive and a credit to her players, Skinner knows how important it is that her side pick up more points away in their remaining fixtures this season.

Skinner highlighted her teams impressive performances of late against strong opposition before emphasising the need for improvement on the road: “We’ve got  to make sure that we do that away as well, that’s the next thing. We’ve got to get over that hurdle and get more points on the road. That’s going to be a real focus for us in the last few games of the season.”
