Mason Terry has extended his West Ham contract, putting pen to paper on a new deal until 2027, as officially announced by the club earlier this week.

Terry has been at West Ham since he was eight years old. In the 2022/23 season which saw West Ham’s U18 side achieve a league and cup double winning the Premier League South and the FA Youth Cup, Terry featured in all of the Hammers Youth Cup games. The young shot stopper conceded just six goals as the Hammers beat Arsenal 5-1 at the Emirates in the final.

After the conclusion of the 2022/23 season, Terry signed his first professional contract with the Club before signing for Concord Rangers in the Isthmian League on loan. The 20 year old enjoyed a successful loan spell with the Essex based side, winning the Supporters’ Player of the Season Award.

This season, Terry is out on his second loan spell with Hornchurch in the National League South. The 20 year old has kept ten clean sheets in 36 league games so far this season. Discussing the progress he has made in his two loan spells, Terry said: “I feel like the two loans that I’ve had, last year at Concord Rangers and this season at Hornchurch, have developed me so much within my journey. Being able to train here with the U21s, being around the first team, working with the first team goalkeepers, and then playing men’s football, it’s been the best of both worlds.”

The youngster went on to add: “I feel like I’ve improved a lot since last year, although I’m still developing and I’ve got a lot of learning still to do.”

Signing his new deal at Rush Green training ground, Terry had close family members. U21’s lead coach Mark Robson and Head of Academy Goalkeeping Billy Lepine all alongside him.

A number of England international goalkeepers have had loan spells in non league early in their careers, much like Terry at the moment. Seeing how well those keepers have progressed from there inspires the 20 year old, who is full of ambition and hopes his career will lead him to play at a high level.

“When I look at English goalkeepers like Jordan Pickford, Nick Pope, Aaron Ramsdale and Dean Henderson; they all went out on multiple non league loans and played loads of men’s football. That pathway is something that inspires me. I want to work my way up the pyramid and reach the top.”
