West Ham striker Evan Ferguson bagged as the Republic of Ireland beat Bulgaria 2-1 at the Aviva Stadium on Monday.
Evan Ferguson has struggled for game time since arriving on loan from Brighton in January, but he has been back on the scoresheet this week as he looks to hit form at the tail end of the season.
Bulgaria took the lead after thirty minutes before Ferguson levelled it up with a sublime finish. The 20 year-old picked the ball up deep before playing a one two with Fin Azaz which allowed him to smash one past the keeper. Celtic striker Adam Idah won the match for the Greens with seven minutes to go, making sure they preserved their Nations League B status.
Ferguson looking confident and getting on the scoresheet is a huge boost for Graham Potter, the former Brighton coach was desperate to sign him in January but it seems like his fitness hasn’t been up to the levels as of yet.
The Brighton loanee managed 74 minutes at the Aviva Stadium, the most minutes he’s played in a match since February 2024. With those minutes and another week of training under his belt with his country, Ferguson will be ready to make his mark on Graham Potter’s West Ham team in the final stretch of the season.
The Hammers boss will also be boosted by the return of Niclas Fullkrug, the German played 45 minutes in a behind closed doors friendly loss to Brentford on Tuesday as he steps up his return from injury.
