West Ham’s hunt for a new striker next season is taking shape with ExWHUEmployee providing an update.
It’s well documented that the club are eager to bring in a new frontman at the end of this season, with on-loan Evan Ferguson not widely expected to be that player – however a decision has yet to be made according to our club insider.
Reporting this week on The West Ham Way Podcast, Ex advised that while a decision on Ferguson has yet to be made, the club are still very much in the hunt for Canadian international Jonathan David.
“Jonathan David still remains a forward target but it seems most of the top clubs are in for him and he has expressed a love for the Spanish league in interviews, with Barca reported to be very keen,” stated Ex. “His teammate Angel Gomes was also a target but talks seemed to have stalled there a bit.
“There are of course other forwards in the mix, a final decision is not made on Evan Ferguson’s future yet and that will obviously play some part in who we go for.
“Aside from David there are a couple of other French based forwards who are also a consideration, these are Guessand of Nice, Emegha of Strasbourg, Kalimuendo of Rennes and a player who only joined Monaco this January but is already making a big mark and that is Danish forward Mika Biereth.
“What is interesting about the later is that he would count as a domestic player as he was born in London and started his career with Fulham and then Arsenal. The club would have to pay significantly more than what Monaco did in January to tempt them to sell however and this makes this particularly deal unlikely.”
