The Premier League transfer window will close on September 1st this summer after a discussion amongst clubs.

Discussions were held today about closing the window earlier on August 14, but there is now a total agreement to stay aligned with other European leagues and stick with September 1, which was announced in the media last night.

This was a huge relief for the Hammers’ recruitment team as Kyle Macauley and Graham Potter have huge jobs ahead of them this summer and having more than two weeks less to conduct business could have made it harder for the pair that worked so well together at Brighton.

West Ham could see over ten players leave this summer, seven players are either out of contract or will return back to their parent clubs. Players like Niclas Fullkrug, Konstantinos Mavropanos, Nayef Aguerd, Luis Guilherme, and Guido Rodriguez could also depart the club.

This means we will have to sign five players in the summer at the very least, and with a tight budget we may need to take our time with some deals to get them over the line. So, having that extra couple of weeks to sign and sell players is a huge relief for the club.

In other news regarding the transfer window, FIFA approved a proposal in October to give teams participating in the Club World Cup an additional window between June 1 and June 10 so they could sign players ahead of the tournament.
