West Ham fullback Aaron Wan Bissaka celebrated his 200th top flight appearance in the Hammers recent meeting with Everton. To mark this milestone, the 27 year old was given an award from the Premier League at Rush Green.
The defender made his Premier League debut for his boyhood club Crystal Palace in a 1-0 loss against Spurs in February 2018. Wan Bissaka’s opportunity came as a result of a number of injuries. He would impress then manager Roy Hodgson enough to feature another six times at the end of the 2017/18 season.
The following season, Wan Bissaka made 35 appearances for Palace in the Premier League. In June of 2019, the fullback earned himself a big money move to Manchester United. In his five seasons at Old Trafford, Wan Bissaka made 130 top flight appearances, with a further 60 appearances spread across domestic cups as well as the Europa League and Champions League.
Wan Bissaka scored his first two goals as a professional at United. The 27 year old also won an FA Cup, an EFL Cup and proved his ability, particularly 1v1, time and time again against high level opposition.
Since signing for West Ham last summer, Wan Bissaka has become one of West Ham’s most important players and one of the first names on the team sheet. The former Crystal Palace and Manchester United man has featured in 28 of the Hammers 29 Premier League games so far this season.
In a West Ham shirt, he has also shown what he is capable of going forward and certainly contributed to the Hammers attack. In November, Wan Bissaka scored in back to back games against both Newcastle and Arsenal. Since the start of 2025, he has also registered assists against Fulham at home and Arsenal away.
His phenomenal 1v1 defending continues to draw plenty of praise, as it has done for much of his career. This, alongside an impressive overall debut campaign in Claret and Blue, has prompted calls from many for him to be called up to Thomas Tuchel’s England squad. Right back is an area the Three Lions have been blessed with plenty of depth in for a number of years meaning Wan Bissaka is still yet to have won an England cap.
Speaking after receiving his award, the Hammers defender said: “It’s a really proud moment. It’s been over seven years now since that first Premier League game, and to have gone on and done it 200 times is something that was beyond my wildest dreams as a kid.”
