West Ham United and Everton are interested in signing Manchester United defender Victor Lindelöf this summer, according to TBR Football

West Ham’s defence has improved under Graham Potter after a torrid time under Julen Lopetegui, however, he still wants to make defensive reinforcements. Nayef Aguerd looks likely to be given a chance to impress the former Chelsea manager in pre-season after a great season with Real Sociedad in Spain.

Players like Konstantinos Mavropanos and Aaron Cresswell could also depart the club this summer which means the club will have to bring in at least one centre back as a squad player. That man could be Victor Lindelöf. The Sweden International is available on a free transfer this summer after spending eight seasons with the Red Devils.

Lindelöf is yet another talented player that Manchester United has almost taken all of the shine out of, he joined under Jose Mourinho as one of the most talented young defenders in Europe and it was almost immediately taken out of him. However, he has been far from a bad player and still has a lot to offer in the Premier League despite now being in his thirties.

The 30-year-old is a solid passer and good at bringing the ball out of defence, he is also capable of playing right-back which would probably make him a great option for the right-side of a back three where we do currently need some cover.

However, the Hammers face competition from clubs across the continent, with clubs in Germany and Italy having already contacted his representatives. His former club Benfica are also said to be interested in bringing him back to the club, with Premier League club Everton also interested in making an approach for the Swede in the summer.

The Hammers may be short on funds this summer after spending a lot of money in the previous two windows. So, moving on a player like Konstantinos Mavropanos for a fee and bringing in a player like Victor Lindelöf in on a free transfer could be a smart move.
