Max Kilman says that West Ham deserved more from Wolves defeat despite not performing well.
Max Kilman has been one of very few bright spots for West Ham this season. His £40 million price tag was once seen as being ridiculously high, but he’s proven to be worth every penny.
Despite performing well individually, he’s been part of an incredibly poor West Ham defence. Although things have improved under Graham Potter, it’s clear that there is a lot of work that needs to be done ahead of next season.
While he agrees with the sentiment of fans that the performance against his former club Wolves wasn’t good enough, he claims that the Irons were unlucky to not walk away with at least a point.
“We definitely improved in the second half,” the 27-year-old told the official site. “We had some good chances towards the end, but we didn’t start well enough in the first half and we conceded the goal, which meant we were always chasing the game from then on.”
“There were a couple of good moments, with Niclas and Tom. We had chances at different points of the game, and I think a draw would probably have been a fair reflection of the game.”
“But, it is what it is and we’ve got to recover quickly now. We’ve got another big game on Saturday at home, against [AFC] Bournemouth, so we need to make sure we’re ready to start on the front foot and win that match.”
In terms of what can be achieved, the Hammers’ season is effectively over. The only thing they’re fighting for now is the chance to finish above Spurs and Manchester United, but if performances continue like this then they don’t even deserve to do that.
