West Ham United will make an offer to sign Southampton defender Kyle Walker-Peters on a free transfer this summer.

Graham Potter wants to revamp his defensive options this summer, and he looks set to start that off early with the signing of Kyle Walker-Peters. After five years at Southampton, Walker-Peters is available on a free this summer.

He has had a tough season in red and white to say the least, having already been confirmed as relegated with eight matches remaining.. However, KWP has been one of the Saints’ most impressive players since arriving from Spurs in 2020.

His biggest strength is probably his versatility. He is naturally a right-back, but he can play left-back just as well, or some would argue even better. This is exactly what the Hammers need. With no European football, we don’t exactly need a huge squad, so a player who can cover both full and wing-back positions would be excellent.

We are also expected to have to sell players to be able to buy players this summer so we will have to take advantage of the free-agent market. KWP would be an excellent start but if we can be successful with moves for Lille duo Jonathan David and Angel Gomes we could really have a great window without spending too much money.

A move for KWP looks very likely at the moment as there is unlikely to be many bigger teams in for the 27-year-old after seeing Southampton’s form this. campaign.
