Niclas Fullkrug is pushing for a start when we face Liverpool at Anfield later today.

Although his fitness is to be understandably assessed closely, having recently come back from a serious hamstring injury, many will hope Potter opts to play the German from the off.

Reporting on The West Ham Way Patreon, club insider advised that Potter will give Fullkrug every opportunity to prove he can play from the start with longer minutes if possible, with the defensive setup today one that many will pay attention to.

“West Ham go into the game with Niclas Fullkrug pushing for a start after recent impressive substitute performances,” said Ex. “Once more though consideration will be given to his fitness levels ahead of the game and he could remain on the bench for another week.

“The manager tends to prefer 5 at the back away from home so it could mean that Mavropanos could return to the side or Cresswell if he is fit. Kaelan Casey has a minor injury and this is why he missed the academy match on Friday and not because he had been called up to the first team.

“The ongoing battle for the left back/left wing position will continue but it seems at the moment the manager prefers Ollie Scarles.

“Guilherme is also likely to be on the bench again but will be looking to build upon his impactful substitution last week.”
