Leeds United could sign Evan Ferguson from Brighton this summer after failed West Ham move.
West Ham United signed Evan Ferguson on loan from Brighton in January, hoping to get his career back on track. However, it hasn’t worked out for the Irishman. After just a couple of starts, it looks like the Hammers have already decided they don’t want to make the deal permanent.
This opens up an opportunity for another club to make a move for the 20-year-old. He was once valued at £100m, but he could now be available for £40-45m this summer. Leeds United could be the club that makes a move if they are promoted to the Premier League.
It’s really confusing as to why Ferguson hasn’t worked out at West Ham. Graham Potter has suggested he has been happy with his performances so far, but not one West Ham fan would agree with that. But there isn’t much he can do at all in the limited minutes he’s had in East London so far.
If he isn’t fit by now, there have to be some serious doubts over his long-term fitness, and with our history with bad striker signings and injury records, it’s probably smart that we stay away from signing him permanently, even though he still has bags of potential.
