West Ham are growing in confidence surrounding the Lucas Paqueta FA hearing as Manchester City ready a move for the Brazil star.
The Hammers midfielder has spent the best part of 2 years trying to clear his name from betting allegations, with suspicious betting patterns leading to an investigation relating to spot fixing, with it felt for some time that a guilty verdict was looking more likely.
It was hoped that following the FA hearing over the last few weeks that a verdict would be reached, however its understood that due to the amount of evidence presented by Paqueta’s team, that verdict has been delayed until June this year.
Its been reported by our insider ExWHUEmployee that the club are now growing somewhat more confident that the player will be cleared of the charges, of course though that will not be confirmed until the verdict is formally provided.
“The club are certainly feeling more confident that Paqueta will not be found guilty, which would be a huge relief for him and the club,” stated Ex.
“It’s still unknown for certain at this stage of course though, which will also pose the question of what the fallout will be in terms of parties then suing the FA.”
It’s also been confirmed by Ex, following the report from Claret & Hugh, that the club are expecting a formal move from Manchester City this summer, should Paqueta be cleared.
“Manchester City are still very keen on Paqueta, so it’s expected that a move will happen this summer, pending of course that he is cleared of these allegations.”
