West Ham are interested in signing Adam Webster this summer, reigniting their interest after talks in January.

Hammers boss Graham Potter is in desperate need of a centre back this season, with the club’s defensive frailties being one of the team’s biggest problems this season.

The club has been linked with moves for Southampton centre-back Taylor Harwood-Bellis, Genoa’s powerful young Dutch defender Koni De Winter, and Udinese’s Oumar Solet.

However, Hammers fans probably won’t be as excited for the most recent link, Adam Webster from Brighton. Seagulls boss Fabian Hurzeler is reportedly keen on moving Webster on this summer as he has become a bit-part player under the German.

A move for Webster would suit West Ham because he should be available for a small fee with just a year left on his contract. That’s according to Gary Jacob of The Times who has revealed that West Ham continue to show interest in getting that deal done for Webster.

Potter has successfully worked with Webster before, and he was a vital part of his Brighton squad that was so successful. However, it just isn’t the type of signings West Ham fans expected when Graham Potter took over.

If we signed Webster alongside a player like Koni De Winter, replacing Mavropanos, t would be understandable, but if he joins with the intention of him being a starter, it will be hard to get excited for what Graham Potter can bring to the club next season and beyond.
