Konstantinos Mavropanos believes West Ham can build on their positive performance at Anfield last weekend as we host relegated Southampton at the London Stadium.
The Hammers have been in awful form in recent weeks. We have not won in five matches, which has left us in 17th place. However, if results go our way, we could move up to 15th, above Tottenham.
“We have to look at the Liverpool performance and keep going at that level, because that is the sort of standard we have to set,” Mavropanos said. “I definitely think we deserved more from that game, and it’s just another point of a season in which we have had a lot of ups and downs.
“For us, it’s all about keeping working and trying to get better. Sometimes we haven’t played how we want, but on Sunday we did well, and now we just need to make sure we’re at that level again on Saturday.
“We know it’s going to be another, different test against Southampton on Saturday, but we will try to play our own game and reward our supporters with the three points.”
As much as the players have to respect their opponents, they and the manager will know we have to beat a team who could well finish the season as the worst team in Premier League history. And if we don’t, there will be a lot of boos ringing around the stadium in Easter Saturday.
