West Ham player gives fiery interview following abysmal draw.
Perhaps the most frustrating thing about West Ham’s awful performance against Southampton isn’t the fact that they didn’t win, it’s that it came as a surprise to absolutely no one.
As fans have grown accustomed to this season, very few players looked bothered with effort being minim across the board. One exception to this was Niclas Fullkrug who has continued to impress since returning from injury.
The German was absolutely seething with the performance his teammates displayed, and he wasn’t afraid to let the world know.
“It’s a mindset problem. I’m very angry,” he said in his post-match interview. “Not disappointed, just angry. After the goal, It was difficult to bring the boys to push up. We didn’t have the ability, or the motivation. Sorry, We were shit. I’m very angry. We don’t try to play football.”
“Half of the team wanted to score again and the other half of team just wanted to defend and that’s not the way it works. We have to find a way to have a togetherness. The coach was clear what he wants, so we have to do it all. It’s just my feelings today.”
His honesty was a real breath of fresh air and fans have praised him for saying what everyone’s been thinking. If more players had this passion and fire in them then the club probably wouldn’t be in the position it is this season.
