Championship-bound Southampton could make a move to sign youngster Luis Guilherme from West Ham United this summer.
Luis Guilherme arrived at the London Stadium from Palmeiras last summer for a fee of £20m, however, he has failed to get any consistent gametime in East London.
The 19-year-old has featured 11 times in claret and blue this season, starting just once. He has failed to register a goal and assist at times, but he has looked bright and made an impact on some occasions.
The rumours of selling Guilherme – whether to Southampton or back to Brazil are very disappointing. Yes, it was a Tim Steidten signing, and he has now left the club. But it’s clear Graham Potter does rate the Brazilian, and it would be interesting to see how he improves under the Englishman.
A loan would make a lot more sense, he’ll get a lot of gametime in the championship with Southampton, who currently lack a real right winger in the squad.
With the lack of money we have to spend this summer, it would make sense to sell Guilherme if we can recoup what we paid. However, realistically, I can’t see anyone paying that unless teams in Saudi Arabia are interested.
