Mexico captain Edson Alvarez appears to be in his final months as a West Ham player.

The defensive midfielder, who signed for the club in the summer of 2023 from Ajax, was said by ExWHUEmployee to be one of a number of players likely to be available for sale this summer.

It was reported by Ex earlier today that Alvarez withdrew himself from the squad to face Southampton at the weekend (having been named as a substitute), with it understood to be a minor injury issue related to his back, which means the player is expected to be available for selection for Graham Potters side this Saturday.

“It’s understood that the injury is minor, and the midfielder is expected to be fully fit and available to face Brighton this weekend, whether he will be selected is a different matter” stated our insider.

“We also understand that the club will entertain offer for Alvarez this summer.”

This has now been further compounded with Claret & Hugh reporting that Alvarez also had a fall out behind the scenes, which could result in the player not representing West Ham again this season.

“Something happened before the Southampton game, there was a disagreement—and I wouldn’t be surprised if he never played for West Ham again,” stated a source, as reported by Gonzo.

The latest developments firmly paint the picture that Alvarez is highly likely to be heading for the exit this summer, as Graham Potter begins his overhaul of the squad, which the season has shown is very much needed.
