West Ham have been tipped for relegation by a journalist following “embarrassing result”.
It’s been a long season for West Ham. While following on from David Moyes was always going to be tough, it’s perhaps gone worse than anyone would’ve expected.
Sacking Julen Lopetegui and replacing him with Graham Potter may have been a fairly popular decision at the time, but things have hardly improved under the Englishman.
Following their recent draw to Southampton, pressure has already started to mount on Potter (who’s led the Hammers to a 6 game winless run) and journalist Jacob Steinberg believes the Irons could be relegated if things don’t sort their issues this Summer.
“Embarrassing result for West Ham”, Steinberg wrote on X. “Amazing there’s such apathy around the place two years after winning a European trophy.
“Huge summer coming up, they will be relegation candidates if this isn’t sorted out (and the promoted teams are any use).”
Unfortunately, he’s absolutely spot on. West Ham really have to balance getting rid off the vast number of players that aren’t good enough and not bringing in too many players, a tactic which so many have failed at before. Transfers are a fine art, and it’s one the club have messed up time after time; it’s vital they get it right for once.
