West Ham United could earn up to £8 million from their US pre-season tour this summer, according to Football Insider sources.
The Hammers are headed stateside this summer as we’re competing in the econd edition of the Premier League Summer Series alongside Manchester United, Everton and Bournemouth.
The inaugural PL Summer Series was in 2023 as Chelsea came home from the US victorious, with Aston Villa, Newcastle United and Brighton also taking part in the tournament.
Sources have told Football Insider the Hammers could bank around £8 million from the Summer Series as interest in the Premier League continues to grow in America.
This would be a huge boost for the club as we are reportedly strapped for cash to spend in the transfer market this summer. Graham Potter is planning a huge overhaul of the squad this summer, but we are not expected to have the type of budget David Moyes and Julen Lopetegui have had in previous seasons, so he will have to take all the money he can get.
More than ten players could leave the club this summer with those players unlikely to make close to the £150m we probably need to completely overhaul the squad, unless Mo Kudus’ release clause is triggered by Saudi club Al Nassr.
It has been widely reported that the Saudi side will have to pay West Ham a £120 million release clause to prise the Ghana international away from the London Stadium. However, if we can’t get upwards of £80m, we may be short of funds, so the extra £8m could come in handy.
