West Ham have once again been linked with a move for Fenerbache striker Youssef En-Nesyri this summer.

En-Nesyri is a player West Ham have had their eyes on for many years, with the first link going back in 2021 under David Moyes. Fast forward four years, and the links still haven’t gone away.

The Moroccan striker has requested to leave Fenerbahce after just a season at the club, according to Vamos Mi Sevilla. He has had a good season under Jose Mourinho, contributing to 32 goals in 46 appearances this season.

However, after a run of seven matches without a goal, resulting in him being dropped from the starting XI, En-Nesyri wants to leave Istanbul. The same report from Vamos Mi Sevilla suggests the Hammers, who are in the market for a striker this summer, could make a move for the former Malaga striker in a deal worth £30m.

To put it simply, this rumour is most likely absolute rubbish. En-Nesyri doesn’t fit the profile of player Graham Potter wants to sign both on and off the pitch. The 49-year-old wants to bring young and hungry players to the London Stadium.

While En-Nesyru at 27 is far from old, it seems as though we want to bring in a forward in that is under the age of 25 with Jonathan David, Liam Delap and Emauel Emegha the main targets. You could also claim he lacks the hunger desired by Potter as he left Europe’s top 5 leagues for a payday in Turkey in what is his prime.

I think the rumours of a move for En-Nesyri to West Ham have reached their expiry date, and a move to David Moyes’ Everton is probably a whole lot more likely if he was to move to the Premier League. But, one the reasons he didn’t end up at the Hammers was because he didn’t like living in England during his short stint with Chelsea as a youngster.
