West Ham fan favourite reveals how David Moyes feels about West Ham recent demise.

Despite his departure being announced a year ago, the Moyes in versus Moyes out debate still rages on in the West Ham community. This divide between fan has been raging on for years now and, despite how tiresome it is, it doesn’t seem like it will end any time soon.

Given that Moyes has moved Everton from one point above the relegation zone to 17, some fans feel like this is evidence that he should have stayed in East London.

Although he was kicked out after one of the most successful spells any manager has had in East London, Joe Cole has revealed that Moyes still has “fondness” towards his former club.

“I was at Everton as well this week. I have been about, and I was with David Moyes, and we were chatting about West Ham. He holds the club in such fondness,” Cole stated.

However, Moyes did hint that he believes that he should have been given a new contract. “Yeah, everyone loves West Ham, but he was telling me it’s remarkable what he’d done at the club, the semi-final, the Conference League final. And in the club, that’s one of them, they got rid of him, and everyone was expecting, right, just going to change this brand of football. And it just, Lopetegui, it went a bit sideways.”

Frustratingly, the debate over the decision will continue on, likely until the club has another successful spell. While arguments can be made both ways, it’s still important to remember that just because the board got his successor wrong (not to mention Steidten) doesn’t mean he should have stayed.
