West Ham have identified Feyenoord defender David Hancko as a target this summer, its been reported by ExWHUEmployee.
In what is a strong signal that the club are looking to revamp the defence this summer, as well as other positions across the pitch, Graham Potter is clearly unimpressed with the current options at the back that he has available.
Despite the club outlaying £40m for Max Kilman last summer, who was a key target for former boss Julen Lopetegui, its understood that the former Wolves captain is a player that the club will entertain offers for.
Furthermore there is ongoing uncertainty surrounding the future of Jean-Clair Todibo, with concerns continuing over his fitness, with the player once again withdrawn from play against Spurs last weekend.
It’s now been reported on The West Ham Way Podcast by our insider ExWHUEmployee that Potter and his recruitment team have identified Slovakia international Hancko as a potential target as we near the summer transfer window.
“A player who is now very much on the radar is David Hancko of Feyenoord,” stated Ex. “Although he is 27, which is older than the players typically appear to be targeting under Potter and Macaulay, he is versatile at being able to cover at left-back also.
“It’s understood that others are also keen on the player, with Chelsea said to be monitoring his situation. But at this stage, he’s certainly a player we could be set to ramp up our interest at the end of the season.
“I have been told though that there is a desire from the player to play in European competition, which could prove an issue when trying to convince him to move to West Ham.”
