Graham Potter is likely to use the final matches to assess certain players ahead of the summer transfer window.

Although West Ham head to Old Trafford today to take on Manchester United in the Premier League, there is very little now to play for as both sides wrap up bleak domestic campaigns.

Following a week whereby the club announced senior player departures, it’s expected that Graham Potter will take this opportunity to look at others closer, although Lucas Paqueta’s impending betting hearing conclusion may see the Brazilian taken out of the firing line.

“The club made the decision in the week to announce that Cresswell, Coufal, Ings and Fabianski will all leave at the end of the season and it is thought that he will use the remaining three games of the season to make judgments on other fringe players,” stated ExWHUEmployee on The West Ham Way Patreon.

“The likes of Carlos Soler, Guido Rodriquez and Edson Alvarez could all come under that bracket and feature in coming games. .

“Lucas Paqueta could be taken out of the firing line today with his court case reaching the final stages. The Brazilian has admitted he is struggling with the stress of the case and could therefore be put on the bench or left out of the squad altogether.

“Another dilemma for the manager will be whether to recall Ollie Scarles to the squad or starting eleven. The manager had decided to not use him in recent games and as Martin Allen has explained on our podcasts this is quite common practise for young players establishing themselves in the team.

“There is a chance he could get a recall to build on his previous games and a chance to play at another one of the big Premier League grounds.

“Todibo will be looking to play against a club that has shown a lot of interest in him in the past and Fullkrug will hope to have another opportunity to lead the line.”
